Mortimers Forest
High Vinalls Mortimer Forest is about 1 mile west of Ludlow, here there are a large number of marked trails, footpaths, bridleways and tracks through woodland owned by The Forestry Commission. Three car parks serve as the starting point for the trails and other footpaths.
The Easy Access Trail
1 Mile. Easy. 15-30 Minutes
This trail is a loosely shaped figure of eight providing two loops of 0.5 miles each or a single loop of 1 mile. As the name suggests is suitable for all abilities including wheelchairs and prams. The trail encompasses a variety of habitats including broadleaved woodland, mature conifer and two wildlife ponds on an all weather, easy access surface.
Vinnalls Loop
3 Miles. Average to Difficult. 1 Hour
This trail ascends to the summit of the High Vinnalls giving panoramic views in all directions and then passes through a variety of timber crops and open deer lawns. This is a moderate to hard walk with some steep climbs, good footwear is essential, especially in wet weather.

Ludlow Castle
The impressive ruins of the castle occupy the oldest part of Ludlow. Building of the castle started around 1086, with many later additions in the following two centuries. It is one of the most interesting castles in the Marches, in a dominant and imposing position high above the river Teme. It features examples of architecture from the Norman, Medieval and Tudor periods.
Ludlow Castle is open to the public from 10am to 4pm, 7 days a week (except Christmas Day and December & January weekdays).
St Laurence Church, Ludlow
The church is the largest parish church in Shropshire and is described as the "cathedral of the Marches". The tower is 135 feet (41 metres) high and commands excellent views of the town and surrounding countryside.
St Laurence's is a Church of England parish church and is an active place of worship and is also open to the public.
Croft Castle, Yarpole
Croft Castle is a castellated manor house set in open countryside with panoramic views Home to the Croft family for nearly 1,000 years it is situated in lovely Herefordshire countryside on a 1500 acre estate of woodland, farm and parkland. In the castle you can view the fine Georgian interiors.
